When the air's cool, the vacation action's hot in the Northwest Territories. This is the season of Aurora – when the awesome northern lights come out at night to mingle with the stars and dance across the sky. Our lodges and winter season outfitters offer guided adventures under aurora borealis. Late winter and spring is the best time, when the days are growing longer and outdoor events heat up - dog racing, spring carnivals and extreme outdoor races. Pack your sunglasses and tanning cream!

Onto the Ice Road

Northwest Territories ice roads open in January and last till early April, weather permitting. Rent a vehicle and try the road from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk.

Drive a Dog Team

Make friends with some eager huskies and get them ready for a trail ride, then step on your own racing sled and head out.
